Pointscape ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Pointscape mobile application for iPhone and iPad and the pointscape.ai website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create a Pointscape account, we collect your email address and a password. If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive the name and email address associated with that account.
Point cloud data. Files you import or upload are stored locally on your device. If you use the Cloud tier, files you choose to upload are stored on our servers for processing and streaming. We do not access the content of your point cloud files except to perform the processing you request.
Usage data. We collect anonymous analytics about app usage, including screens viewed, features used, and crash reports. This data does not identify you personally.
Device information. We collect device model, operating system version, and thermal state information to optimize rendering performance. This data is processed locally and not transmitted to our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve Pointscape and its features.
- To process and convert your point cloud files when you use cloud services.
- To manage your account, subscriptions, and workspace memberships.
- To send transactional emails (e.g., processing complete, upload failures) if you have notifications enabled.
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability.
3. Data Storage and Security
Local point cloud files are stored on your device and are not transmitted unless you explicitly upload them to the cloud. Cloud-stored data is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States, encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+).
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted authentication tokens, secure API communication, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
4. Third-Party Services
Pointscape integrates with the following third-party services:
- Cloud storage providers (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box) — accessed only when you choose to import files from these services, using OAuth authentication. We do not store your provider credentials.
- Apple (StoreKit & App Store) — processes in-app subscription purchases and renewals on your device; Apple provides us subscription status through Apple’s systems (for example App Store Server Notifications) so we can unlock Cloud features tied to your account. We do not collect or store your payment card details.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- With workspace team members, limited to the point cloud files and metadata you share within that workspace.
- With service providers who assist in operating our infrastructure, bound by confidentiality obligations.
- When required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Cloud-stored point cloud files are deleted when you remove them from your workspace or when your account is deleted. Local files remain on your device and are managed by you.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Export your data in a portable format.

8. Children's Privacy
Pointscape is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Pointscape after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
