Guide
A scan holds every answer a site visit would give: how high, how flat, how many, what moved. Until now you had to go and measure each one by hand. Connect an AI to Pointscape and you can ask instead.
With AI added to a Pointscape plan, the AI you already use reads your scans through MCP and works with real measurement tools. It can measure distances, heights and areas; check floors, ceilings and walls for flatness, level and plumb against named standards; count and find objects by geometry; detect where scan stations disagree or coverage is thin; classify and clean up points; and fly a client through the scan. Everything it suggests arrives as a proposal you confirm, and confirmed findings go into the PDF report. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek through an MCP client, or an agent you build.

Why now
A language model on its own cannot read a 2 GB E57 file, and it should never guess a distance from a screenshot. What changed is the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets an AI call tools in another application. Pointscape runs an MCP server, so a connected AI can open your scan, read its points, fit a plane, measure a region or render a view, and get numbers back. The model does the reasoning; Pointscape does the geometry.
That split matters for what comes next. Your scans do not change, but the models do, every few months. Pointscape exposes the same tools to whichever model you connect, so when a better one ships, your existing scans get smarter the same day, with nothing to re-upload and no app update to wait for.
Ceiling height, door width, the area of a room, the angle of a ramp. The AI fits planes and measures regions in the points, then proposes a measurement you can see in the viewer and confirm. Numbers come from the points, never from a picture.
Flatness, level and plumb are the questions a scan answers best. The AI lays virtual straightedges over a surface and grades the gaps against DIN 18202, BS 8204, EN 13670 or ACI 117, estimates ASTM E1155 F-numbers and TR34 properties, maps the worst high and low patches and proposes an issue at each. The same check is a tool in the app, included with the AI step and usable without connecting an AI: see floor flatness on iPad.
The AI splits a region into ground, planes and connected objects, each with its size, orientation, height above ground, colour, intensity and class, then counts and names what matches your question and highlights it in the viewer. Columns in a hall, pallets in an aisle, pipes under a ceiling, the one cabinet that is missing. Segmentation is geometric rather than a trained detector, so the AI tells you when a shape is ambiguous.
Where two scan stations disagree on the same wall, where a surface leaves tolerance, where the scan has holes. The AI compares stations, grades surfaces and lists thin coverage nearest first, so you know where to put another station before you leave site rather than after you get back.
Ground points on a roof, vegetation tagged as building, a neighbour's yard you want to hide. The AI selects points by geometry, class, colour or intensity and proposes a class for each group, up to fifty at a time. The file keeps its own classes; the edits apply over them only once you confirm, and you can withdraw any of them.
The AI can move the camera, crop the view and fly a path through the scan on your iPad while you talk. Put the AI app beside Pointscape in Split View and ask for a tour.
Every issue and measurement the AI proposes waits in Pointscape until you confirm it. Confirmed ones sit in the project beside anything you recorded by hand and appear in the branded PDF report with their snapshots. Ask on site, confirm in the car park, send the PDF before the office opens.
Get started
Add AI to a Pro or Cloud plan in the app, then add https://api.pointscape.ai/mcp to your AI: Claude in one click, ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek through an MCP client, Claude Code, Cursor, or an agent you build on the Anthropic or OpenAI API. Pointscape runs no AI model of its own; your own AI plan pays for the conversation. Setup guide for every client.
