Use DeepSeek with your point cloud scans

DeepSeek, Llama, Mistral and other models work with Pointscape through any MCP client. Add AI to your Pointscape plan, then add https://api.pointscape.ai/mcp as a remote (streamable-HTTP) MCP server in the client that runs your model, choose a model that supports tool calling, and sign in with your Pointscape account when the client opens the browser. The model then reads the scans you share and proposes measurements, issues, notes and classification changes. Your model provider or your own hardware pays for the conversation.

AI is optional. Pro and Cloud work in full without it; add AI only if you want an assistant on your scans. The current price of the AI step is shown in the App Store.

Setup

Add AI to your plan

Open Pointscape on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, Subscription, and turn on Add AI on Pro or Cloud. It is optional and can be turned off again at renewal. You need to be signed in to a Pointscape account; the connection is tied to it.

Add Pointscape to your MCP client

Cursor: Settings, MCP, Add new MCP server, and paste {"mcpServers":{"pointscape":{"url":"https://api.pointscape.ai/mcp"}}}. VS Code: add {"servers":{"pointscape":{"type":"http","url":"https://api.pointscape.ai/mcp"}}} to .vscode/mcp.json. Cline and Continue: add a remote MCP server with the same URL in their MCP settings. DeepSeek Harness: mount the MCP client plugin with the URL as a streamable-HTTP server; it bridges MCP tools, which is all Pointscape needs. Then pick a DeepSeek model that supports tool calling.

Sign in and tap Allow

The client opens a browser tab with a Pointscape sign-in page. Sign in with your Pointscape account and tap Allow. The client stores the token; disconnect at any time under Settings, Subscription, AI in Pointscape.

Let AI read a scan

Open a scan in Pointscape, open the AI panel in the viewer and turn on Let AI read this scan. A scan on your device is readable while the app is in the foreground; cloud scans are reachable anytime.

Ask

Ask in the client's chat in plain words. The model calls Pointscape's tools for every number; nothing is estimated from an image.

What it can do

Browse your projects and cloud scans, and read a scan's bounds, classes and layout.
Read the points of a scan you shared from the device, render views, and move the camera or crop the view while you watch.
Measure regions, segment ground, planes and objects, count and find things, and check a floor, ceiling or wall for flatness, level and plumb against named standards.
Propose measurements, issues, notes, labels and class changes. Each waits in Pointscape until you confirm or discard it; confirmed ones go into the project and its PDF report.

Privacy and control

The model sees only scans you shared and projects on your account, and only through the tools you allowed at sign-in. Rendered views, numeric summaries and small samples of points go through Pointscape's API to the client and the model provider it uses, under their terms; raw files do not. Turn off sharing for a scan, or disconnect under Settings, Subscription, AI, and access ends immediately. Details in the Privacy Policy.

Questions

Does Pointscape talk to DeepSeek directly? No. Pointscape is an MCP server; the client you use runs the model and calls Pointscape's tools. Any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth works, with DeepSeek or any other model that supports tool calling.

Which clients have been used with it? Pointscape is a standard MCP server with streamable HTTP and OAuth, the same protocol Claude and ChatGPT use. Cursor, Cline, Continue, VS Code and DeepSeek Harness all support remote MCP servers in this form. If a client only supports tools and not MCP prompts, that is fine: the prompts are a convenience.

Can it change my project without asking? No. Everything it writes is a proposal that waits for you in Pointscape. Only confirmed proposals appear in the project and its PDF report.

Do I need AI to use Pointscape? No. AI is an optional step on the Pro and Cloud plans. Viewing, measuring, flatness checks and PDF reports work without it; add AI only if you want an assistant on your scans.
