Guide

Connect Claude to your point cloud scans

One click adds Pointscape as a connector in Claude. Ask it to check a slab, count the columns or find the gaps in a scan; it proposes, you confirm on iPad, and the findings land in the PDF report.

Claude connects to Pointscape as a custom connector over MCP. Add AI to your Pointscape plan, click the button below (or add https://api.pointscape.ai/mcp under Settings, Connectors), sign in with your Pointscape account and allow access. Claude then reads the scans you share and proposes measurements, issues, notes and classification changes. Your Claude plan pays for the conversation; a free Claude account allows one custom connector.

AI is optional. Pro and Cloud work in full without it; add AI only if you want an assistant on your scans. The current price of the AI step is shown in the App Store.

Setup

5 steps

1

Add AI to your plan

Open Pointscape on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, Subscription, and turn on Add AI on Pro or Cloud. It is optional and can be turned off again at renewal. You need to be signed in to a Pointscape account; the connection is tied to it.

2

Add Pointscape to Claude

One click: the button opens Claude's "Add custom connector" dialog with Pointscape filled in; confirm it. Custom connectors are added on claude.ai or the Claude desktop app and appear in the Claude iPad and iPhone apps at the next sign-in. By hand: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, name Pointscape, URL https://api.pointscape.ai/mcp.

Add Pointscape to Claude

Claude Code (terminal): claude mcp add --transport http pointscape https://api.pointscape.ai/mcp, then /mcp to sign in. "http" there names the MCP transport; the connection uses the https URL.

3

Sign in and tap Allow

A Pointscape sign-in page opens. Sign in with your Pointscape account and tap Allow to let the AI read your projects, propose findings and move the view on your device. Disconnect it at any time under Settings, Subscription, AI.

4

Let AI read a scan

Open a scan in Pointscape, open the AI panel in the viewer and turn on Let AI read this scan. A scan on your device is readable while the app is in the foreground; cloud scans are reachable anytime.

5

Ask, or pick a packaged prompt

Ask in plain words. Or tap + in Claude, open the Pointscape connector and pick a ready-made prompt: measure floor flatness, check registration between scan stations, clean up classification, trim to a site boundary, find coverage gaps, fly the camera. iPad tip: put Claude next to Pointscape in Split View and watch it work.

Things to ask Claude

Copy one, or say it your own way. What else AI can do with a scan.

What it can do

Privacy and control

The AI sees only scans you shared and projects on your account, and only through the tools you allowed at sign-in. Rendered views, numeric summaries and small samples of points go through Pointscape's API to Anthropic under its terms; raw files do not. Turn off sharing for a scan, or disconnect under Settings, Subscription, AI, and access ends immediately. Details in the Privacy Policy.

Questions

Does it work in the Claude iPad app? Yes. Add the connector on claude.ai or in the desktop app, then sign out and back in on the iPad and Pointscape appears under connectors. Put Claude beside Pointscape in Split View to watch the camera move and the issues appear.

Do I need Claude Pro? No. A free Claude account allows one custom connector, which is enough for Pointscape. Your Claude plan sets how long you can chat; Pointscape does not charge per call.

Can it change my project without asking? No. Everything it writes is a proposal that waits for you in Pointscape. Only confirmed proposals appear in the project and its PDF report.

Do I need AI to use Pointscape? No. AI is an optional step on the Pro and Cloud plans. Viewing, measuring, flatness checks and PDF reports work without it; add AI only if you want an assistant on your scans.

Using a different AI?

Pointscape speaks MCP, so any client works with the same URL.
